Chris ward Biography to Date - July 2009
From the tender age of 11, Chris Ward has been progressively building his love for dance music and DJing having started in humble surroundings at his family home practising first as a commercial DJ and then later on to move onto the international dance scene.
In the initial few years Chris was battling against the grain simply because of his age which often times made it difficult to secure bookings but persistence paid off as Chris soon settled into a string of regular gigs around Dublin and drummed up a wealth of experience playing at weddings, 21st’s parties and then onto local bars and small clubs.
Chris also focused his attentions on the airwaves and began working with community and local stations around the capital in a number of different roles from Drivetime presenter to production manager and even on the news team.
After several months taking as much on board as he could, Chris decided to turn his attentions to the type of music he wanted to start playing and decided to start promoting himself of the Irish dance scene building a reputation for his tech fuelled bass driven style. This too took off with great vigour and Chris reaped the rewards of his hard work with slots at some of Dublin’s most prestigious clubs at the time including, Pod, Red-box and the temple theatre along with regular guest appearances on legendary Dublin dance stations Nova and Pulse.
Following a family move to Co. Carlow in the summer of 2003 Chris was faced with the task of finding the momentum he previously enjoyed with his career while living in Dublin. It didn’t take long and Chris was soon involved in the radio scene across the country with stints on radio Kilkenny, CKR, and later on KCLR96fm, Midlands 103, Beat 102 103, and CRC in the west of Ireland. Alongside all of this Chris was plugging away at his live career and found himself in demand from promoters and club-owners country wide. Residencies with promotion companies Grooveyard and Clubeducate along with venues in Longford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wexford, Ashbourne and guest sets all over the emerald isle meant that following the completion of his leaving certificate in 2006, Chris could focus his attentions full time on what was sure to be a very successful career.
That’s exactly what happened and Chris soon found himself involved with larger radio stations such as Fm 104 and national station Today Fm along with guest sets on 2fm and I radio. On the gigs end of things Chris was also making leaps and bounds with promoters beyond Irish shores starting to take notice. This lead to bookings from smaller scale club-nights across the U.K, France, Germany, Austria and Spain scheduling Chris to warm up at nights such as Resistance, Tech Fest, and ‘Jump On’ at which Chris gradually climbed the ranks, and the bill’s to eventually headline some of the above nights across Ireland and Europe.
Chris has had success on the production end too with his self released debut track – Get Layed. This was followed by legless, his second release.
Chris went on to establish his own brand Climax which has since become a well known name on the dance scene not only in Ireland but internationally with the club-night, syndicated radio show, and artist management service all doing very well.
In the past eighteen months Chris has been continuously working on his talents and has played at some large scale events internationally including winter music conference in Miami, monthly individual dates across Europe and a recent stint in Sydney Australia which saw Chris playing at some of the biggest nights down under.
His current radio show is syndicated around the world and is pulling in huge listener numbers weekly and his diary is as full as it has ever been with upcoming events scheduled for Kilkenny, Belfast, Castlebar, Donegal, Wexford and Cork and eorpoean nights in Spain, Italy, Ibiza, Poland the U.K and festival appearances in Germany and the Netherlands.
Chris continues to make waves on the international dance scene and will most likely do so for a long time to come with his enthusiasm and passion shining through in all of his sets.
